They are mesmerizing to look at yet scary and surreal at times. Fjords form as a result of a glacial activity or, better said, erosion triggered by the flow of massive and powerful glaciers. Despite the small overall size of <a class=\"wpil_keyword_link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.iceland.org\">iceland<\/a>, the country has a whopping 109 fjords. Some of them are real fjords and other bays with <a class=\"wpil_keyword_link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.iceland.org\/geography\/fjord\/\"   title=\"fjord\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\">fjord<\/a>-like characteristics. The Icelandic Fjords plunge deep into the land and are shielded by steep heels and mountains. On the shores of these fjords, there are many fishing villages and small towns dedicated to the fishing industry and offering attractions and accommodation for tourists and visitors.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Here is a list of the Fjords of Iceland:<\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<ul>\r\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" There are several flat islands scattered within the Borgarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur Fjord, but they are uninhabited. In contrast, the lands of the fjord itself have been inhabited since the settlement of Iceland in the 9th century.
