Four of them are classified as cities, while the others are smaller and defined as towns, villages, and other smaller settlements. The localities are denser in the coastal regions, while Iceland\u2019s interior lands are uninhabited because of their hostile terrains and conditions. The most densely populated area in the southwestern corner of the <a rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/iceland.org\/geography\/island\">island<\/a> homes two-thirds of the total population. The overall density of the population is three people per square kilometer. The largest, most densely populated, and most expensive city in is the capital <a class=\"wpil_keyword_link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.iceland.org\/reykjavik\/\"   title=\"Reykjavik\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\">Reykjavik<\/a> while the most minor settlement is the tiny fishing village Bakkafj\u00f6r\u00f0ur.
