Interestingly, Iceland has 30 smaller islands of its own and more than one thousand rocks and skerries. Despite a large number of islands, only four of them are inhabited, and those are Flatey in Brei\u00f0afj\u00f6r\u00f0ur, Gr\u00edmsey, Hr\u00edsey, and Heimaey. However, even the ones that are not inhabited are important for geographical and geological reasons. Also, some islands are popular tourist attractions, while others are best left undisturbed as they serve as nesting spots for various bird species. The features of <a class=\"wpil_keyword_link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.iceland.org\">iceland<\/a>&#8216;s islands constantly change due to volcanic eruptions and subsequent water erosion. The largest <a class=\"wpil_keyword_link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.iceland.org\/geography\/island\/\"   title=\"island\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\">island<\/a> in Iceland is Heimaey which is located off the north coast and is also the main island of the famous Westman Islands.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Here is a list of the Islands of Eldey Island&#8217;s coordinates are <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">63.7408\u00b0 N, 22.9580\u00b0 W<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Eldey is small but rises to incredible heights of 77 meters. The high altitude combined with sheer cliffs<\/span> makes Eldey home to one of the largest colonies of northern gannet. In the past, it was also inhabited by auks,<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> but they migrated following a volcanic eruption in 1830. Eldeyjarbo\u00f0i is, in fact, a blind skerry and part of the Mid-Atlantic Ridge. In 1830, an underwater eruption occurred underneath Eldeyjarbo\u00f0i. Engey<\/span><\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Engey Island in Iceland is located in the west. Engey Island&#8217;s coordinates are 64.1708\u00b0 N, 21.9159\u00b0 W. Engey is the second-largest island of the Faxa Bay and one of the five historic islands near Reykjavik. Tours and Tour Guides for Engey Island in Iceland are not available. Flatey in Brei\u00f0afj\u00f6r\u00f0ur is a cluster of forty islands and islets forged under the extreme weight of a <a class=\"wpil_keyword_link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.iceland.org\/geography\/glacier\/\"   title=\"glacier\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\">glacier<\/a> during the previous Ice Age.
