It is the region within the southwestern portion of Iceland. This region has six municipalities around it, each with its own elected council that cooperates extensively.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>This region encompasses the largest urban area, <a class=\"wpil_keyword_link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.iceland.org\/reykjavik\/\"   title=\"Reykjavik\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\">Reykjavik<\/a>, and its surrounding villages. It is not the most southwesterly portion of the island. Reykjavik is the largest of these by far. Its population as of January 2020 was 131,136. All the others are pretty close, making up the Greater Reykjavik area. However, the Capital Region has more of an urban focus, although there are still hikes you can do in the region.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Some of the most popular things in this region include visiting the Harpan, the somewhat famous concert house, and convention center. There are also art installations all over the Capital Region to check out, including the Black Cat and the Sun Voyager. There are an array of museums within the region, too, including the Icelandic Phallological Museum, the National Museum of Iceland, and the Reykjavik Art Museum.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What are the Hotels in H\u00f6fu\u00f0borgarsv\u00e6\u00f0i\u00f0?<\/h3>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>This region has the widest selection of hotels in all of Iceland. You might want to stay in cheap, traveler&#8217;s accommodation like a <a class=\"wpil_keyword_link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.iceland.org\/hostel\/\"   title=\"hostel\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\">hostel<\/a> such as the LOFT or Kex Hostel. There are also plenty of options between these to suit almost any budget.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What are the Glaciers in H\u00f6fu\u00f0borgarsv\u00e6\u00f0i\u00f0?<\/h3>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>There are many tour operators that will take you to glaciers that start in Reykjavik. However, there are not any notable glaciers in the Capital Region of Iceland.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What are the Mountains in H\u00f6fu\u00f0borgarsv\u00e6\u00f0i\u00f0?<\/h4>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>A large part of the reason Reykjavik is located in this part of Iceland instead of in a more central location is because of its relatively flat terrain.
